Tips for a Healthy Digestive System

Here are a few helpful tips to optimize digestion:
 
  • Chew your food at least 20x per bite before swallowing.
  • Drink more water in between meals, not during the meal and avoid iced drinks they will slow down the digestive juices.
  • Don't overeat at one meal. Only 2-3 cups of food fit nicely into an adult's stomach. More quantity than this reduces digestion and absorption and can bring upon symptoms of heartburn and pain.
  • Relax at mealtime, you should be sitting and not standing, avoid multi-tasking while eating, that will allow the blood to flow to your digestive organs and not to your extremeties.
