CLA also known as conjugated linoleic acid, is lacking in the majority of our diets today. We do not make CLA in our bodies, we can obtain it from grass-fed beef and dairy products. However, you need to make sure that it is grass-fed beef because most cattle today are not grazing out in pastures. Studies found that by 1990s the CLA content in U.S. milk was less than 1 percent. In Australia the cattle still graze out in pastures and they found the CLA content to be a gigantic 400 percent! This may make you wonder if this is one of the contributing factors for our obesity epidemic in America. Blind, randomized studies in humans have shown a decrease in abdominal fat after four weeks of using CLA. You can purchase CLA in capsule form and the typical dosage is 1,ooomg per capsule, taken three times per day.
