Symptoms Associated with PPIs

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) have be associated with:
  • Increased risk of Clostridium difficile (C. diff)
  • Development of esophageal candidiasis
  • Osteoporosis-related bone fractures
  • Community-and hospital-acquired pneumonia
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency
  • Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis
  • Increased upper GI tract permeability (leaky esophagus)
Taking PPIs will lead to hypochlorhydria, bacterial overgrowth and acetaldehyde production, long-term use is potentially a risk factor for gastric and cardiac cancers.
Supplementing with a high-quality digestive enzyme is critical for optimal digestive function.
