Synthetic Sweetners

Did you know that Splenda, also known as sucralose contains chlorine. Sucralose has been linked to the following health problems: atrophy of the thymus gland, kidneys, and the liver;  miscarriages; low fetal weight; and increased glycosylated hemoglobin. There also have been reports of Splenda causing severe allergic reactions, including breathing problems, large welts, and rashes. Another toxic synthetic sweetner is aspartame, also known as NutraSweet. Aspartame has been proven to block the formation of serotonin, the feel-good neurotransmitter that is needed to maintain a positive mood. If you suffer from headaches and are using diet products you may want to stop, aspartame contains the amino acid phenylalanine which, constricts blood vessels. If you are looking for an alternative to synthetic sweetners, Stevia is a plant that has been around for centuries and has no negative side effects.
