Symptoms of Liver & Gallbladder Congestion

The liver is the infrastructure of the body, it filters a quart of blood every minute and manufactures a quart of bile every day. It is also responsible for fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism. People who regularly consume alcohol, processed foods and prescription medications, suffer from a condition called fatty liver. This condition impairs the liver's ability to break down fats and toxins. It is critical to support the liver's detoxification pathways to have optimum function. The following are symptoms associated with liver and gallbladder congestion:
  • weight gain (especially around abdomen)
  • indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, gas, feeling full after eating a small amount of food
  • hypoglycemia, diabetes, insulin resistance
  • hormonal imbalance
  • PMS
  • hot flashes
  • halitosis (bad breath)
  • gallstones & gallbladder disease
  • headaches
  • mood swings
  • anger, aggressive tendencies
  • emotional outbursts
  • elevated lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides)
Foods that support the liver are artichokes, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, dandelion leaves, red beets, garlic, onions and lemon juice.
